Immortal Pagan Spirit, the second release by Pythagorean Circle, continues where the 2023 self-titled debut leaves off. The songs, as usual and in accordance with the tradition of Pythagorean Circle, have been placed on the album based on the exact chronological order in which they were composed, so that my personal narrative continues, always guided by the never-ending search for ancestral wisdom.
The album contains 10 tracks, 9 in the familiar style of old-fashioned Black Metal and the now “classic” acoustic outro – farewell played the Cretan lute.
The liquid element, the most basic source of birth and life, has its honor on this album through the references to the Naiads, the ancient nymphs-guardians of the sacred springs that gush the life-giving Water, blessing the existence and maintenance of the Natural balance on the planet.
The album continues with the ode to the 13,000, inspired by the books “The Ascension of Cyrus” and “The Descent of the Myriads” by Xenophon, as a final tribute to the undefeated Greek mercenary army that was found “headless” in absolutely hostile territory after the bloody battle of Kounaxa in -401 bce.
The third track refers to the initiation of Pythagoras, to the ancient Cretan mysteries that were held in the sacred cave of Idaios Andros, about the eternal cycle of life and death.
Continuing, the album takes us to the sacred Groves and the Nymphs who dance to the accompaniment of the auls and tambourines played by the Satyrs, celebrating with this ritual dance the Full Moon and the changes of the seasons. Having reached almost halfway through the album, I could not help but write a song for all the true children of Mother Gaia who came to this planet, as guardians against the miasmas of globalization and for the upcoming confrontation that will mark the end of the rot and the lawlessness of the overlords.
In the next song, I refer to the redemption after thousands of years of Lightbearer, Prometheus Bound , this divine benefactor of humanity, who gave us the Eternal Fire, activating practical thinking and the ability for man to begin to use tools for survival and the improvement of his living conditions. Having served the sentence of his arbitrariness and Zeus giving his consent, he sent his son, the just Hercules, who in turn, breaking the magical bonds, freed them.
This is followed by a tribute to the ship of Argo, with which the Argonauts sailed from the port of Iolkos, in search of the Golden Fleece, and in the next track Immortal Pagan Spirit, which is also the album’s namesake,
I come out clearly and uninhibited against this wretched construct, the Abrahamic atheistic sect that aimed to annihilate the indigenous religions and traditions of the peoples, with the ultimate goal of the spiritual and mental enslavement of humanity to a non-existent “god” of the desert and his materialistic money-makers, until the final dominance of the theocratic oriental darkness and the black-clad followers of the unholy Jehovah. The last song is an attempt to decode the Sacred Pentagram of the Pythagoreans based on the five elements that compose it and which are responsible for the wholeness of beings and balance at all levels.
Closing the album, we say goodbye with the orchestral piece dedicated to the Promethean Flame.
Whether they want it or not, the Natural Order will be restored.
